What would I do with extra time? Would I write?
Time is not really my enemy. I mean I never have enough time but do I want more?
The long and short answer is yes and no. My life is governed by my energy levels. There are days when I get out of bed at 0600, have a shower and go to the gym and there are others when I get out of bed at 09:00 and have my breakfast.
I go to bed most evenings about 22:00. I now ask myself where would this extra time fit and could I put it to good use?
On a good day I can give myself extra time by staying up a bit later but I do not use it productively as I usually just watch the TV. After 19:00 I am the proverbial couch potato so adding extra time into my day wouldn’t benefit anyone, least of all me.
The extra time I would like wouldn’t be an extra hour or two per day; I would love time, and energy, to smell the roses, to appreciate nature, to appreciate the world in which we live. An extra week or two each year would suit me better than an extra hour or two per day. After my extra time smelling the roses I would still have time in my ordinary day to write about the smell.
For now my day has 24 hours and sometimes the hours pass by ever so slowly and others skip past so fast that I don’t realise the time is gone.
My favourite advertising phrase of all time is “We cannot save time, we can but spend it wisely”
