Orchid Palace, Ballyvolane, Cork

Jean and I, accompanied by Martin and Mary, went to the Orchid Palace in Ballyvolane last Saturday evening. As the name suggests it is a Chinese Restaurant and it is located on the 1st floor, over the long established pub The Fox and Hounds. There is parking to the rear of the premises with one designated disabled parking space with a correctly sloped ramp for access to both the pub and restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant does not have website.

There is an elevator to the restaurant but I think it a good idea to ring in advance to alert them that it will be needed as the area around the lift appears to be used for storage and therefore the need for a tidy before it is used.

2014-04-05 22.29.43There is good circulation space in the restaurant with a wheelchair accessible toilet.

These tiles looked great in the loo hence the photo.

The food and wine were excellent and great value. It was raining quite heavily as we were leaving and our waiter brought me down in the elevator and then pushed me up the ramp at speed to minimise my time in the rain.

My Accessibility Rating is 5 stars.
