We headed out for a meal last night. That is to say Elaine and Henry along with Jean and me. We decided to go to Luigi Malones on Emmett Place in Cork. Check out their website http://www.luigimalones.com/ For those not too familiar with Cork it is pretty much the city centre and adjacent to the Crawford Art Gallery and Cork Opera House. There is some on-street car parking nearby but not a lot. The multi-story car park attached to Paul St. Shopping Centre is only minutes walk, or roll, away from the restaurant. The general area is largely pedestrianised and access to the restaurant by an unaccompanied wheelchair user shouldn’t pose any problems. Having said that going to a good restaurant unaccompanied is probably not a good idea as the company is very often what puts the final finishing touch to the meal.
We had nachos and chicken wings between us for starters. This was followed with 4 fabulous main courses; Elaine had Tequila and Lime Fillet Steak Fahita, Jean had Chicken Tequila Fettucine, Henry had a Sirloin Steak and I had a Rack of Ribs. Jean then had Toblerone Cheesecake and Henry had Profiteroles. We had a bottle of House Merlot and coffees after. Well worth the visit.
The restaurant was buzzing and therefore getting access to the wheelchair accessible toilet necessitated one or two diners have to move slightly but the staff were on hand to make my journey as trouble free as possible. The toilet was perfectly adequate with plenty of room and the requisite grab rails. Overall a great venue for an enjoyable night out.
