A visit to Dublin and Kildare

Jean, Elaine and I went to Dublin on Friday for a family get together with other members of the family not fortunate enough to live in Cork. Those who read yesterday’s blog will know that. We went for a meal and a few drinks to The Millhouse in Stillorgan. http://www.menupages.ie/dublin/south_dublin/stillorgan/the_mill_house#.UeJzbNLVDex

The menu wasn’t extensive but the food was perfectly cooked, the service was excellent and the prices reasonable. Disabled access is to the rear of the pub and access to the restaurant section is by way of dismountable ramp. I would recommend calling in advance to let them know your requirements. The men’s toilets require a degree of mobility to access but it is doable. Overall a pleasant experience.

On the way home on Saturday we stopped off in Kildare Village Outlet Mall. http://www.kildarevillage.com/

It was a fabulous day with the sun shining brightly and very little wind. My two travelling companions made purchases. There is a wide selection of shops available. There is Starbucks café on-site and a choice of other restaurants also. Designated disabled parking spaces are available as are genuinely accessible toilet facilities. The main street of the mall has a number of gentle slopes and plateaus which means that the complete shopping area is totally accessible regardless of ones mobility issues and whether you are alone or accompanied. There are also a number of benches around the mall to allow shoppers take a breather when necessary. Obviously taking a breather outdoors is weather dependant. Top marks for accessibility.
