The wonderful Cliffs of Moher and the Burren
Bank Holiday Monday and Jean & I started our road trip up the west coast. Pit stop in Bunratty Castle Hotel where my tea & scone were delightful and parking and facilities were excellent. We then headed toward the Burren Interpretative centre in Kilfenora but thanks to a slight misdirection on our AA plan we missed it and went straight to The Cliffs of Moher. It was my first time visiting the cliffs and was suitably impressed with the visitor centre and the accessibility of the venue. The visitor centre is totally accessible with toilets, restaurant, exhibitions etc. and most of the outside area is accessible for accompanied wheelchair users. We made do with our limited mobility and scope but were both impressed with the cliffs.
Bear in mind that there are designated disable parking spaces in the coach park which is much closer than the main car park. Well worth the visit.
We then drove through a portion of the Burren on our way to Galway. It is such a strikingly barren countryside I wonder how anything survives there.
