I visited Blackrock Castle Observatory this morning. Check it out – http://www.bco.ie/
The weather wasn’t bad so the short roll in from the car park was fine. I was met by Dee at reception who described the facility in great detail. The exhibition is very much-hands on and a very enjoyable experience especially for those with an interest in inner & outer space and evolution. There is only one small section of the main exhibition that is not accessible to an unaccompanied wheelchair user but that really doesn’t lessen the experience. There are two steps down to this area but the rest of the venue is accessible to all.
The Dome & Dungeon Tour was not available this morning but I suspect it might also be an issue for wheelchair users. There is 1 designated parking space at the gate and a wheelchair accessible toilet at reception.
There is also restaurant on site and it is totally accessible – http://www.castlecafe.ie/
